Things to do first: Keyboard/Modem Processor Hard Drive Display Removal

Using your fingernails, remove the four rubber bumpers, and two ciircular screw covers. You can also use a sharp blade to remove the circular screw covers, but you risk damaging the surrounding plastics. Then, remove the six exposed screws.

Wedge a sharp blade in between the two sides of the display housing, and slowly work your way around both side until the two halves are separated.

Separate the two halves.

Remove the semi-circular black plastic protector which helps prevent the inverter wires from getting chewed up.

Remove the eight screws attaching the LCD panel and hinges to the display panel. Remove the yellow tape as well.

Disconnect the microphone from the display cable.

Lift up and remove the display panel.

Disconnect the display cable from the panel.

Using a sharp blade, carefully loosen the thin orange/brown binding strap that holds the display cable in place. Note there may be yellow tape wrapped around the strap as well. If so, then the tape ONLY should be cut.

You can see that the strap here has been loosened.

Continue unwinding the strap until it can~t be unwound any more.

The strap is now unwound.

Remove the peice of the display cable which is loosely stuck onto the right hinge.

Loosen the display cable by pulling the bottom of it up, through, and over as indicated.

The cable can then comfortably be removed.

Remove the four screws holding the hinges to the LCD panel.
